My Story From Nothing to Deep learning Enthusiast
It's December 2017 , and I am in hospital admitted ( will tell the reason later on).
It was may of 2017 and i was preparing for IIT-JEE (Jee mains + Advanced ) exam (one of prestigious engineering exams in india ) and started going coaching classes for the same but i didn't know what was coming ahead.
I was doing good in coaching and after 3 months i was feeling that i was ahead in the race and will surely do great in the exam.
Now , one day after coming from coaching , i was not feeling well and i go to see the doctor at a nearby clinic.
The doctor said it was just a seasonal flu (this is august) , and i will be relieved of it in a week , given i take medications properly.
So , i did the same as was told But after two weeks also , i was not feeling well and condition became more serious.
Now , i went to see a other doctor who was somewhat expert in his field of chest specialist and he said to get a x- ray of my chest.
I gone for a x - ray and then , the doctor after seeing the chest , said he is suspicious of some infection in lungs maybe pneumonia or bronchitis or tuberculosis.
The doctor started medications randomly on the basis of just a x - ray and my conditions worsened.
After a month , i was not able to walk properly and my body was not accepting food and i vomit every now and then.
My hemoglobin went down to 8 g/dl and i lost 10 kgs in just 1 month (from 60 kgs to 50 kgs).
Now in november , my father took a decision to show up in hospital and after discussing with doctors in the hospital , i was admitted in the hospital (it was 25 nov).
Then there were series of tests performed on me like CT scan and MRI scan , more x -rays and other bacterial blood tests and liver function test and finally the doctors confirmed that i have 'tuberculosis' in my left lung.
I and my family was shocked as it is a fatal disease and has a very less success rate especially in developing countries like India.
[For your knowledge : in this disease the bacteria of TUBERCULOSIS attacks on your immune system and doesn't let you eat any kind of food so that you donot get energy to fight them back again .so basically they suppress your hunger and finally your immune system fails to counter it.Tuberculosis - Wikipedia]
For reference See the statistics by WHO 2018 REPORT OF TB IN INDIA -
I was then in the hospital for about a month but no recovery was seen in me and drugs had no effect on me and then one day , my mother's maternal uncle phoned me and advised me to go and see a one of india's specialist and expert doctor of tuberculosis in Delhi -
Dr. Ajay Kochhar T.B. center.
I gone to see him and believe me that day was the greatest turning phase of my whole life till now.
The doctor after check up says that I was being misguided for more than 2 months by several doctors and it was not normal tuberculosis but drug resistant tuberculosis (confirmed by swab culture tests).
The doctor after check up says that I was being misguided for more than 2 months by several doctors and it was not normal tuberculosis but drug resistant tuberculosis (confirmed by swab culture tests).
The more shocking thing was when he told that my left lung was 90% contracted and filled with only water and the infection had started filling into right lung also and had i have been few days more late , i would not be even able to come to Delhi for checkup.
Now , comes the new phase of my life , and i started medications as prescribed by him.
He told me that these diseases occur due to bad lifestyle and adopting bad habits like not taking proper sleep , not going for morning walk , not taking nutritious food and not taking requirement of fruits and roughage.
His each appointment was not only a normal checkup but every time he teaches a lesson not only helping me in fast recovery but he also gave live changing advice which are helping me right now also.
I started following all his methodologies , and finally feeling really good and you will not believe , after eating according to his made diet chart , my body again started accepting food and i was feeling a rush of blood all through my veins.
Then , after few months went by , i said when will i totally be okay ?
The doctor smiled and said that tuberculosis can't be cured so easily and so soon , generally it takes 2 years , 'however it is sometimes the case that patient's dedication can bring it to about 1.2 - 1.5 year'
The lines in quotes he said , and i told myself that i have to do it as , i have my whole career ahead and as soon as i will be able to finish these things , i will be able to move ahead in my life, enhance my English skills , travel north-east Indian states , etc.....
I tried hard to follow exactly - I woke up at 5 a.m in the morning , and go to jog daily for 1 hr (even till today) , take all the three meals at proper time (and that too totally green veg , a bowl of curd , only chapati no rice , a bowl of pulse.) , preparing for my College Semester exams , reading other technical books on astronomy as i am also a cosmos and space lover etc...
Finally it's done , and in October 2018 , the doctor said you are in final phase of medications and if you continue like this , the medications can be stopped in few months.
Around this time , I also applied for pytorch scholarship challenge course by Facebook and Udacity and i was selected for that and now i was very happy , but due to other constraints , i was not able to participate heavily and thus was not selected for phase -2 of the course.
Then , After that in april 2019 , my medications stopped totally and doctor said you are totally okay now and just continue with your good lifestyle practices.
I till today follow all his advises in my life like one which he gave me was as "if you get one success , then do not stop at that point and think about its result , but just move onto next work , then keep going like this without thinking about success or failure"
He said do not do decide to do any work just because you love it or not love it , do because it's necessary.
Discipline and hard work is very necessary in life not to be only successful but to gain self esteem.
He gave me a lot of motivation to not only recover fast but also do good in my life as well.
Finally i am here , cracked Second challenge course on Udacity - secure and private AI challenge course by Facebook and so i pray and hope that i get selected for phase -2.
Think how much interesting the life would be when you have so much big problems to face and then you come out of it with a lot of struggle and pain and then you look back to your life to motivate you further.
Being inspired from yourself !
